Electronic Equipment Disposal
Electronic equipment may now be brought to the GSWA yard for
proper disposal. This service costs $10 per computer to cover
the cost in transporting discarded computers. Proper disposal
will remove 8 pounds of hazardous material per computer or other
electronic items from the regional landfill.
Do not place construction material in dumpsters or trash
compactors. Construction materials in these containers can cause
equipment breakdowns. Small construction waste loads may be
delivered directly to the GSWA Yard located at 26590 US Hwy 70,
Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. A drop-off fee schedule for some
items is available by calling 378-4697 or toll free,
1-877-548-8772.
Tree Waste Disposal & Pickup
The Authority will pick up residential tree waste (trunks and
limbs up to 6” in diameter and in sections no more than
4 feet long, plus needles and leaves 12 yards per year
July 1-June 30) on a scheduled basis in County of Lincoln
outside of the Village of Ruidoso. Stack material on
your property in one pile along a relatively level
stretch of road, keeping piles clear of overhead power lines,
poles or fences. Piles should not include
household trash, lumber or construction trash, dirt, rocks or
large stumps. Grappler service is provided every 9-12 weeks on a
rotating schedule, available at our office. Commercial
businesses needing this or any trash disposal or recycling
service should call 378-4697 or toll free

The Solid Waste Authority – Who We Are
The Solid Waste Authority, organized in 1991, is operated by a
regional Authority Board (with representatives from
participating communities) and its management, to provide
efficient, economical, and environmentally responsible solid
waste disposal services to communities and rural residents of
Lincoln County. County residents currently generate
approximately 5.8 pounds of solid waste per day (2003) of that
waste; an estimated 17% (2006) is currently recycled and sold by
the Authority, thereby reducing fees associated with landfill
disposal. The remainder is hauled to the regional landfill south
of Alamogordo. The Solid Waste Authority has a goal of
increasing Lincoln County resident recycling from 17% to 25% of
the solid waste stream. Recycling more of the waste stream will
keep monthly solid waste fees for residents to a minimum and
continue to reduce the need for additional tax support.
The Authority offices are open to serve you Monday
through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Yard
hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The yard is also open
the 2nd Saturday of each month –from 8 a.m. to 12 Noon.
April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14. The Office and yard will be close on
May 28 & July 4.
Residential Garbage & Trash Collection
Greentree Solid Waste Authority is committed to giving residents
the best trash collection service possible for among the lowest
fees in the region. We offer our customers several efficient,
safe and environmentally responsible options for weekly
residential trash and garbage disposal.
The
three options available to Lincoln County residents, depending
on their local community’s collection system, include:
collection carts, large volume closed dumpsters, and automated
trash compactors.
Certain types of chemically-based household or construction
waste such as asbestos, paints, paint thinner, household
cleaning products, oils, gasoline, anti-freeze, fluorescent
light bulbs, fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are
considered potentially dangerous and
should not be placed in the
trash collection containers. Call the GSWA office at
378-4697,
or
1-877-548-8772, or email us at
gswa@greentreeswa.org for
advice on proper disposal.
